The Qatari Chamber held an introductory session with the Qatari-Russian Cooperation Center (QRCC) on the topic of opportunities for Qatari-Russian cooperation.

The sides discussed ways to boost trade and economic ties between Qatar and Russia, as well as discussed the latest developments regarding Qatar's participation in the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), scheduled for June 2021.

The discussion was attended by members of the Board of the Qatar Chamber Ali bin Abdullatif al-Misnad, who is also the Chairman of the Qatar-Russia Business Council, as well as several members of the Board of the Chamber.

Al-Misnad stressed that the webinar is important for determining the preparation for Qatar's participation as an invited guest country in the SPIEF, an international forum that has been held since 1997. In addition, Al-Misnad mentioned that the forum is an excellent opportunity for participants to conclude agreements and transactions between the world's largest economic and financial institutions, as well as to discuss key global economic issues.

Al-Misnad expressed confidence that the SPIEF will contribute to strengthening cooperation relations between Qatar and Russia, especially between the private sector of both countries, as the Forum is a platform for other participants to consider the attractive investment climate in Qatar.

Ibtihaj al-Ahmadani, a member of the Board of the Qatar Chamber of Commerce, called for greater participation of Qatari businessmen in the forum to consider all the investment opportunities available in Russia. She stressed that Qatar is a reliable and promising market for Russian companies in many aspects of cooperation.

Diana Charmadova, Director General of the QRCC, stressed that every year the number of SPIEF participants exceeds 19,000 people from more than 145 countries. SPIEF brings together the heads of major Russian and foreign companies, heads of state and political leaders, prime ministers, deputy prime ministers, and governors.

According to Charmadova, it is expected that about 50 organizations, including 500 delegates from Qatar, will take part in the forum.
