Qatar Trading Performance: 2021 Results

According to the latest economic report published by the Qatari Chamber, the value of private sector exports for 2021 increased by 77.2% to reach 26.4 billion Qatari riyals. In 2020, this figure was 14.9 billion rials.

At the same time, Asian countries have become the main importers of goods from the private Qatari sector. They accounted for 47.6% of the total amounting to 12.5 billion rials.
In second place in terms of the number of imports was the region of the Persian Gulf countries - 25.3%, and in third place - a group of European states.

This surge in trade was mainly due to the overall increase in exports, which rose by 69.31%. The reason for this was the massive lifting of restrictions related to the pandemic, the resumption of various business forums on a regular basis and the opening of borders. At the same time, the balance of Qatar's foreign trade in goods in 2021 increased by 130.36%.

The report also notes that 2021 saw a steady increase in all foreign trade indicators related to the trade balance.
