Bahrain opens trade zone for US
Bahrain has taken the first step in opening a US Trade Zone (USTZ) within the state in the industrial city of Mina Salman.
In 2021, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the countries providing for the creation of a trade zone that would enhance economic, trade and industrial cooperation, as well as support exchanges between the United States and Bahrain.
As a result, the zone was created, which is expected to become a regional center for trade, production and logistics among American companies in the Kingdom, as well as in the markets of the Gulf countries and beyond.
USTZ will conduct export operations through the port of Khalifa Ben Salman and Bahrain International Airport. The development of the zone will be part of the kingdom's economic recovery plan. It is assumed that the zone will begin to fully operate by 2025 and will be able to increase the country's GDP by 14%.
