Qatar and Germany: expanding areas of cooperation and strengthening bilateral relations

During the farewell ceremony, the Qatari Ambassador expressed the intention of the two countries to strengthen cooperation. Germany is determined to continue cooperation not only in the economic sector.Qatar's Ambassador to Germany, Mohammad Jaham al-Kuwari, has published a book called " Economic guidance: Qatar" in German in collaboration with the German society of the Near and Middle East. Al-Kuwari announced the publication during a farewell ceremony to mark the end of his term as Ambassador.
The ceremony was attended by Daniela de Ridder, Deputy Chairman of the parliamentary Committee on foreign Affairs in the Bundestag; Katrin Heisner, representative of the German Ministry of economy and energy; Prince Georg von Preussen, grandson of the last German Kaiser; and Prince August von Wittgenstein, as well as a group of businessmen, economists and representatives of German companies from various sectors.
In his speech, al-Kuwari stressed that the areas of cooperation between the two countries cover a variety of industries and sectors, including political, economic, social and cultural. He explained that at the moment, Qatar is focused on creating permanent and sustainable bilateral partnerships, not just on making short-term profits.
Speaking about the investment opportunities of representatives of foreign countries in the Qatari market, the Ambassador noted that the geographical location of the state makes it a center of international trade. Al-Kuwari said that the state fully supports the aspirations of German investors to conduct small and medium-sized businesses in the country.
During the speech, the German side emphasized that due to the emergence of new global threats, such as the pandemic and the financial crisis, countries should join efforts to eliminate the consequences and quickly return to sustainable economic growth, resume international trade and strengthen it.
Free industrial zones, which were recently established in Qatar, provide a guarantee of economic growth, while plans to diversify its economy play a key role in promoting bilateral economic cooperation with friendly countries such as Germany.
As for the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Qatari economy, the speech confirmed that it has demonstrated its resilience and ability to develop even during critical situations. The indicator was the success of the national airline Qatar Airways, which not only expanded its network, but also provided humanitarian assistance to countries during the quarantine period.
Abdullah bin Hamad al-Attiyah, former energy Minister of Qatar, spoke about the progress made in the existing bilateral cooperation between Qatar and Germany.
He explained that this cooperation is not limited to economic cooperation, but also extends to the political sphere, including joint work to promote peace and security in the middle East, take joint steps to achieve stability in energy prices, fight international terrorism, ensure the security of Maritime transport routes and preserve freedom of trade.
At the moment, more than 300 German companies operate in the Qatar market. It is expected that the expansion of cooperation between the two countries will attract even more businessmen and investors.
