4 new agreements to be signed during Iranian-Qatari talks
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi arrived in Qatar on Monday to hold talks with Emir Tamim bin Hamad al Thani, as well as to participate in the Forum of Gas Exporting Countries. Since the election of Raisi as President of Iran, this visit will be the fourth.
According to Iranian Transport Minister Rostam Ghasemi, four agreements will be signed between the two countries. Most important among them is an agreement on a plan to build an undersea tunnel that will connect Iran and Qatar.
Two other agreements will deal with the problems of shipping and the expansion of maritime trade, and the fourth will be aimed at improving air communication between states.
In addition, Iran and Qatar will discuss the energy sector. The states are planning to launch several joint projects in this area.
After the visit and bilateral talks, both states will take part in the GECF summit. The agenda will include growing tensions in Ukraine and related energy problems, as well as discussion of progress on resuming an agreement that limits Iran's nuclear program.
